‘We love Mad Men too! …Except for all the womanizing and alcoholism stuff.’ – A quote from one of my many hilarious discussions with Ashley and Alex while photographing their fantastic energy!
These two are currently living hours apart, and I swear it made things that much more romantic and sweet shooting in the city where they fell in love. (LOVE = 3A07 read upside-down (as Ashley’s tattoo says) …a sweet sentiment her dad started after he noticed it on a broom once.) Beyond cute. Just like Ashley and Alex together. And I bet you’re trying to tilt your head to read 3A07 now, right? Ha!
A + A – I couldn’t get enough of you guys that night! I am shutting myself up once again and letting the photos speak for themselves…thank you again for finding me and I hope your wedding day is spectacular! xoxox!
I promised Jen I would save their engagement session for the cold winter months, and oh, does this make me miss August! I soaked in the sun with Jen + Will in one of my favorite locations to date in the Delafield area + up on Lapham Peak. I grew up right around there…the Kettle Moraine is such a beautiful place! All that was missing was their sweet puppy, but he will show up soon in their upcoming wedding post. I loved their energy, and now I’m off to start counting down the days till spring…
I was beyond excited when Jennifer + Todd chose to make the trip up from Naperville, IL to come shoot in my little neck of the woods! Most of my clients are in Madison + Milwaukee (where my husband and I originally from), but as you all know, we are transplants to Stevens Point aka Mayberry. I truly love having the best of both worlds…living a hop-skip away from the city yet having daily life be a bit slower and surrounded by fields + pine trees, and some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. It’s always a treat to have clients embrace a rustic setting and come get a taste of the loveliness that surrounds me!
I had a hunch Jen + Todd would be great based on our initial e-mails alone. A bit of back story…Jen had been following my blog ever since their friends’ Miranda + Adam’s wedding. When Todd first e-mailed me, he was getting ready to propose to Jen and said, “If she says ‘Yes’ her first thought is going to be ‘I hope Carly McCray is available to do my wedding.'” Seriously!?!?
I really am amazed at each of my couples’ engagement stories and how unique and creative they all are, and Todd’s really took the cake with thoughtfulness and planning. He surprised Jen during a trip to Rock City atop Lookout Mountain in Georgia, where you can see seven states at once. Homemade storybook in hand, he had her read through the pages + gave her special gifts as she made her way through…then he proposed at the end (all with a photographer secretly capturing the event!). To top it all off, at the very end of the book, he surprised her with the wedding itinerary he’d already started planning…with me being at the top of the list! Yes, I was actually a PART of one of my couples’ engagements. Seriously…there are no words. I am so lucky to have people that connect with my work that much, and I am truly, truly humbled! (Jen also filled me in at their shoot that she loved my work so much she was ‘keeping me a secret’ from the rest of her siblings getting married, and I just about died…love it!!)
And now that I’ve written a novella, on to the adorable and fun couple that is Jennifer + Todd…watch for their gorgeous Naperville wedding next spring!
